According to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Illinois is at the middle of the pack in gun violence. Chicago saw 762 shootings in 2017 and had the most incidents. It is the last state which allows concealed carry

Amid the national debate over gun control, Illinois became the last state to allow concealed carry of handguns. Illinois lawmakers overrode a veto from Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn, in 2010, passed a concealed carrying law. Although the law allows residents to carry guns in public places without a license or permit, residents will need to obtain a Firearm Owner's ID Card (FOLI) first. Residents will be able carry concealed handguns at most public places once they have passed a background investigation, completed 16 hours gun safety training and paid $150 for a permit.

It bans ghost guns

On Wednesday, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed new gun laws that ban the sale or possession of ghost guns. Ghost guns are undetectable weapons because they are made from a kit bought online or printed out on a 3D printer. According to Chicago Police Superintendents, the number recovered guns in Chicago has increased by 64% since last year. She hopes that it will rise to 70% before 2021.

There is a 72-hour waiting period for handguns and long guns

The Illinois legislature has passed several gun control measures. These include an increase of the waiting time for long guns and handguns. All firearm purchases will be subject to a 72 hour wait period starting January 1. It is referred to by supporters as a "cooling out" period as it helps stop gun purchases during the heat of a moment. Jonathan Carroll, a Northbrook democrat, is the state representative. He says that the new law was created to stop people making "heat-of-the moment" purchases.

It requires a concealed carry licence

While most states have laws that require concealed carry licenses, some don't. The gun lobby is pushing federal legislation that would make the laws more restrictive. Many states don't require concealed carry permits, which could pose a threat to public safety. To force states that have strong CCW laws to implement those laws would be counterproductive. In addition, many states have lax permit laws, making enforcing the laws difficult.

How To

How to select the Best Deer Rifle

Your hunting style, budget and weather conditions all play a role in choosing the right firearm. The most important thing is what type of game your hunting. A scope will be necessary if you want to hunt whitetails. You can choose a bolt action rifle, if you don’t mind carrying a gun carrier, or a semi-automatic weapon. There are many different types of rifles. A lever-action rifle is preferred by some while others prefer a piston action. It's up to you to decide which one to buy. But before you decide to buy a specific model, here are some things to remember.

First thing first, you must know what kind of game you want to hunt. Are you looking to hunt small game like squirrels, or larger animals like deer? You might need a different weapon depending on how big the animal is. A.308 caliber rifle is a good choice if you plan to hunt deer. This will allow you to hunt larger animals than those who hunt with a.223 caliber rifle. The price of the rifle is another thing to remember when buying a rifle. A quality rifle will run you less than a cheaper one. Be sure to check that the rifle matches the ammunition you plan on using. Additionally, ensure the barrel length is adequate to allow you to hit the target distantly.

The type of terrain in which you will hunt is another important consideration. Are you going to hunt in open fields or dense forests? If you intend to hunt in open spaces, you should consider a long-range rifle. If you're hunting near trees, you can use a shorter range rifle. Make sure you know the specific terrain you're hunting.

Last but not least, you should always check the condition of the rifle before purchasing it. Make sure the rifle is clean and well maintained. Check whether the trigger works properly. Check for corrosion or rust. You should inspect the rifle's stock as well as the finish. To test the accuracy of the rifle's shooting, fire it up. These steps will allow you to determine if the rifle is right for you.
